Project: Mount Maunganui College, Tauranga
Main Contractor: DeckedOutNZ/BiForm Tauranga
Project Completion: July 2023
Decking Profile Used: FORM 130 Camo Brown & Camo Grey

Project Brief

This new area provides a versatile area for student play, relaxation and gatherings. The property manager, along with the school board, had a strong focus on sustainability while also wanting to achieve an area that was low maintenance and offered durability to withstand the daily rigors of a busy high school.

Why BiForm was Specified

After considering various timber options, BiForm Solid Composite Decking was chosen for its environmental benefits, low maintenance, and durability. The selected decking colour and profile was FORM 130 in Camo Brown with a Camo Grey perimeter.

BiForm's solid composite decking, made from 60% FSC Certified timber and 30% recycled plastic, perfectly aligned with the college's environmental priorities. BiForm's comprehensive technical support throughout the design and installation process further cemented the decision.

The Ministry of Education's stringent requirements for school environments also played a significant role. BiForm decking met all necessary criteria, including slip resistance, fire safety, durability, structural integrity, and absence of hazardous materials. This compliance with regulations ensured the safety and longevity of the decking solution in the school setting.

Conclusion

BiForm successfully provided Mount Maunganui College with a sustainable and functional outdoor space that enhances student life. The new decking not only serves as a performance stage but also supports the college's commitment to environmental stewardship. The herringbone design feature, suggested during the project, added a unique aesthetic touch, well received by all stakeholders. This project underscores BiForm's ability to deliver customised, high-quality decking solutions that meet the specific needs of educational institutions.
