Project: Parry Kauri Park, Warkworth
Main Contractor: Milton Harward Construction
Architect: Stellar Projects Ltd
Project Completion: Feb 2023, ongoing
Decking Profile Used: FOREST Brown

Project Brief

The vision was to develop a durable, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally harmonious walkway. For Stellar Projects Ltd, the goal was to utilise a material that offers long-term durability while being aesthetically in tune with the natural environment that surrounded it. The design aimed to provide accessible paths for visitors to safely experience native Kauri trees up close. Moving away from plastic mesh on timber boardwalk surfaces, due to slip resistance concerns, was also a priority.

Why BiForm was Specified

BiForm Forest Board (Brown) was specified for its ability to meet stringent criteria set by the Warkworth Local Council, Track Builders, and Structural Engineers. The council required a material that was durable and visually integrated with the park's environment while providing inherent slip resistance. Track Builders needed a product compliant with project specifications, easy to machine on-site using standard tools, and accompanied by clear installation instructions. Structural Engineers sought verified test reports confirming the product's performance.

BiForm Forest Board’s BRANZ Appraisal and independent Product Technical Statement confirmed compliance with New Zealand Building Code standards. Additionally, the 25-year limited warranty provided assurance of the product's longevity and reliability. BiForm’s reputation for excellent service, consistent communication, and timely deliveries ensured the project progressed smoothly.

Conclusion

The Parry Kauri Park project demonstrates BiForm’s capability to meet rigorous criteria for durability, aesthetic integration, and environmental sustainability. The collaboration with Warkworth Local Council, Stellar Projects Ltd, and Milton Harward Construction illustrates how BiForm’s composite decking solutions can enhance public spaces while ensuring long-term performance and safety. The innovative design elements and high-quality materials have resulted in a user-friendly walkway, allowing visitors to safely experience the park's natural beauty.
